Consortium of MORE Project, coordinated by inno TSD, meets at Lenzing AG, Austria

The team of the European project “MORE - Real-time Monitoring and Optimization of Resource Efficiency in Integrated Processing Plants, coordinated by inno TSD, met for a plenary meeting on February 9-10, 2015 in Austria, at the Lenzing site of Lenzing AG, the world largest integrated pulp and fiber mill for man-made cellulose fibers.

Manfred Prötsch PhD, recovery plant manager at Lenzing AG, welcomed the MORE team and highlighted that for Lenzing AG resource efficiency is a major concern. He is very happy that, thanks to the involvement in MORE, savings from reduced steam consumption in the plant of around 300 000€ per year can be expected already!

After real-time resource efficiency indicators for continuous and batch plants were defined, the work of the project currently focuses on the visualization of the resource efficiency indicators to support operators and plant managers, and on decision support tools. A general visualization concept has been developed by INEOS Cologne, BASF PCN Düsseldorf and TU Dortmund. The consortium is also planning activities on the transfer of the achievements of MORE to other industries, in particular feasibility studies in the sugar and the pulp and paper industry will be conducted.
